New Year, New Me?

Did you make any New Year’s resolutions this year? Were you planning on exercising more, or maybe you’ve decided that 2022 is going to be a year of adventure?

You’re definitely not alone. Every year droves of well-meaning people with great plans with hangovers start with resolutions. And every year people realize (somewhere between January 2nd and January 14th) that things are not going according to plan. It feels a bit inevitable - as if it's silly to think New Year's resolutions could lead to real change.

Is it really impossible to change your life around with the start of January? I don’t think so.

If we take the example of making 2022 a year of adventure, the internet tells me the best thing to do is to claim it. So let’s do it!

✨ In 2022 I will say YES to every adventure that comes my way

💪 I’ll write it on my mirror and I’ll claim it every day

💡 To set myself up for success I’ll make an appointment to get tested at the GGD every three months

👑 I’m doing this to have fun so if I’m not having fun I’ll leave and go do something else

Does this mean I’m going to have my best year ever? I don’t know, but I’ll keep you posted.

Maybe I’ll have some bad experiences too, and maybe it’ll be hard to remind myself that I’m down for an adventure when what I want to do is ghost. But I will keep trying, and I look forward to being surprised. Maybe those smoothie recipes I see on Instagram will actually make me look like Meryl Streep – who knows.
